Back by popular demand!  If you haven't attended one of Chef Marianne's "Sauce" classes, don't miss this opportunity with Saga Hill Cooking and Events!
In the culinary arts, the term "mother sauce" refers to any one of five basic sauces, Bechamel, Veloute, Espagnole, Hollandaise, and Tomato, which are the starting points for making various secondary sauces or "small sauces." They're called mother sauces because each one is like the head of its own unique family of sauces. Once you know how to make these 5 mother sauces, the possibilities are almost limitless. Chef Marianne and her staff will lead you through an interactive class where you will not only learn the mother sauces, but we'll show you how to turn one sauce into another sauce and fix "broken" sauces!

Have more fun and save time in the kitchen and perfect your julienne, batons, and chiffonade. Whether you have a $5 knife or a $500 knife, we will learn to sharpen that workhorse into a fine-honed blade back to its factory edge. So please bring your knives or if you can use one of ours! To note: we do not sell knives.

The first lesson in professional training is to learn to select, handle, and maintain knives. Each knife has a specific purpose and earning to use each knife with confidence and precision takes a great deal of knowledge. Focusing on vegetable and fruit preparation, learn to use the correct knife with expertise by being shown how to and participate by chopping, slicing, and dicing like a pro in this hands-on 2.5 to 3-hour workshop.
